Globally, food systems are not prepared for the multiple challenges being faced to provide sufficient, nutritional food to the worlds’ population. The challenges include the need to use fewer resources and generate lower emissions, while still being resilient to climate change. A number of recent reports highlight these challenges, but what are the solutions? The GIZ Support Program for the implementation of the Paris Agreement engaged UNIQUE to review digital solutions emerging in the agriculture and food sector as one entry point to improve land management, change consumption behavior and to engage the youth in finding innovative approaches to solve these challenges. UNIQUE provided background analysis and policy relevant information for the German Ministry of Environment on this subject.
