He works on private and public investment projects at the interface between climate protection and land use. He has more than 15 years of practical experience in Africa and Asia as a consultant for the World Bank and as the managing director of an agricultural company.

  • Paul Jacovelli

    Head of the Forest Investments Division

    Paul Jacovelli has over 30 years of experience in forestry development, with an emphasis on plantation forestry in Africa. He has worked both in the public and private sector. Paul Jacovelli has a broad practical background as well as in depth knowledge in planning and management of forests for the sustainable production of bioenergy, sawn wood, and other value-added products. Between 2002 and 2012 Paul Jacovelli led the Sawlog Production Grant Scheme (SPGS) in Uganda.

    Till Pistorius is an internationally renowned climate and biodiversity policy expert. His work focuses on environmental governance of the land use sector, in particular on the design and implementation of REDD+ and Forest Landscape Restoration (FLR). He has been a member of the German delegations to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) and the UN Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) since 2006.

    Project Leader Community-based walnut-fruit forests and pasture management in South Kyrgyzstan

    Simon Charré has worked for more than five years in projects with a thematic focus on natural resources management, specifically on montane forests and pasture resources. He has broad experiences in the topics of strengthening the cooperation between public authorities, local NGOs and international organizations. Simon Charré was also involved in projects in cooperation with the Central Asia Regional Environmental Center (CAREC) and the Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ). He has been working in Kyrgyzstan since 2010.

    Markus Grulke has spent over 20 years working on sustainable wood production in forest plantations and natural forests. He has extensive experience as a project developer, consultant and expert in Latin America, Africa and Asia. Markus Grulke founded three forestry companies in South America (ForCerPa, Consorcio Forestal Chaco and PAYCO Forestry Project) and the timberland investment fund ARBARO.
