Business Development & Administration

The Division is responsible for

  • strategic business development at national and international levels;
  • acquisition of large-scale projects;
  • quality assurance of project implementation; and
  • strategic HR management.

Together with the Managing Directors and the Administration, the Division for Business Development and Quality Assurance aims at continuously improving our processes and procedures and thereby providing high quality services to our clients.

Corporate Administration is responsible for the smooth functioning of our business operations, including financial management, contract management, and human resource administration. Our IT team provides in-house services to ensure efficient and accurate project management and administrative processes according to international standards. As a result we can offer our clients tailor-made and highly professional solutions.

  • Annika Korte

    Annika Korte

    MA Political Science

    Consultant in the Business Development and Quality Assurance Division

    Annika Korte works in the field of acquisition and project management. This includes the initiation of cooperation agreements, the development of project proposals in cooperation with the UNIQUE´s technical divisions and the provision of backstopping during project implementation. She has in-depth experiences in the field of international cooperation as she previously worked for the GIZ in Vietnam and Germany.

  • Katia Obst

    Katia Obst

    MSc Sustainable Forestry and Land Use Management

    Consultant in the Business Development and Quality Assurance

    Katia Obst is responsible for searching for suitable tenders for the different divisions of UNIQUE. She also supports and coordinates the preparation of technical and financial offers in particular for the IADB, the EU, the GIZ and various German institutions. As project team member at UNIQUE since 2002, she has gained practical experience in various regions of South America.

  • Christina Pieper

    Christina Pieper

    MSc Development and International Relations

    Consultant in the Business Development and Quality Assurance Division

    Christina Pieper completed her MSc in Development and International Relations at Aalborg University in Denmark. Additionally, she undertook a postgraduate training as a Coordinator in International Project Management (IPM) and gained regional experience in East Africa with GIZ. In the Business Development Division, Christina Pieper works in the field of acquisition and project management.

  • Jana Rauch

    Jana Rauch

    MA Geography, MA International Management and Negotiations

    Senior Consultant in the Business Development and Quality Assurance Division

    Jana Rauch’s key competences are in project management, capacity development and results based monitoring and evaluation. She has been working in the context of international cooperation for twelve years. Within the Business Development Division, she coordinates major project acquisitions for UNIQUE’s technical divisions and manages international cooperation projects. For the GIZ and the KAS, Jana Rauch worked as a technical advisor and project manager in Central America for eight years.

  • Markus Grulke

    Markus Grulke

    PhD & MSc Forest Management and MSc Development Cooperation

    Seconded as MD of the ARBARO Fund; CEO of the Holding UNIQUE Works AG

    Markus Grulke has spent over 20 years working on sustainable wood production in forest plantations and natural forests. His work focuses on forest economics, forest production systems, and the development and evaluation of forest investment projects. He has extensive experience as a project developer, consultant and expert in Latin America, Africa and Asia. Markus Grulke founded three forestry companies in South America (ForCerPa, Consorcio Forestal Chaco and PAYCO Forestry Project) and the timberland investment fund ARBARO.

  • Patricia del Valle Pérez

    Consultant in the Forest Investments Division

    Patricia del Valle analyzes forestry investment projects and develops forest information systems. Her core competencies are production and financial modeling, due diligence of forest investments and the development of monitoring plans. Patricia del Valle is actively involved in the long-term management of our production facilities in Paraguay and has professional experience in Latin America, Africa and Asia.

    IT administrator

    Florian Burmeister is responsible for the proper functioning of the company's IT and is the direct contact person for questions concerning both software and hardware. He has extensive experiences in the administration of terminal devices and networks.

    Head of finance and accounting

    Carola Deutschmann is responsible for finance and accounting at UNIQUE. Her tasks involve financial accounting, developing financial statements, filing tax returns, as well as internal reporting and project controlling. Carola Deutschmann has worked in finance for 30 years and has been a tax consultant since 2000.

    Monika Kolb works in the field of administration and finance management. She supports the business development division with project acquisition and management. Monika Kolb has long-term experiences in the scientific field, in in-company trainings and as a lecturer on quality assurance for technical documentation.

    Tina Raimann is responsible for the administrative management of UNIQUE. Her main tasks include personnel management and supporting the managing directors with the design and implementation of optimized work processes. In addition, she coordinates the application of IT within the enterprise.

  • Jonas Schlenker

    Jonas Schlenker

    BSc Forestry; IT Network Administrator for Windows

    IT Manager

    Jonas Schlenker has extensive experience in IT network administration. He is responsible for the conception and maintenance of UNIQUE’s IT infrastructure. Besides his work with forest applications, he designs and works on web-based projects with the portal software Intrexx. Furthermore, he is an expert for burial forest projects.
