Senior Manager (m/f/d)*
Market and Investment – Forestry

We are Unique, efficient, integrating, professional in the fields of sustainable forestry and agriculture, climate protection, economics, environmental policy and organizational development, active in 80 countries. More than 60 people work for us, since 1998 we have successfully implemented more than 1,000 projects. Our demanding partners and clients come from the public and private sectors, e.g. World Bank, International Finance Corporation (IFC), Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ), Kreditanstalt für Wiederaufbau (KfW) or Danone. In addition to our consultancy work, our sister companies are a growing property manager responsible of currently 15,000 ha of commercial FSC certified forest plantations, including silvipastoral systems in Paraguay. Amongst others we provide advisory services to different funds (Arbaro fund, Forestry and Climate Change Fund, Livelihoods Funds).

To strengthen the Forestry-team and further develop our investment advisory portfolio, we are looking for our Senior Manager for Market and Investment (m/f/d)*.

Job Description

  • Steer a growing project portfolio of investor services and analytics.
  • Manage and further develop an international team of experts (5+ colleagues) including staff development, technical development, and financial planning and controlling of team budgets.
  • Work closely with clients from development finance institutions, international organizations and private investment funds and companies to build effective and long-term working relationships.
  • Support our clients to develop new investment projects and due diligence.
  • Prepare technical and financial proposals, participate in business development with existing clients and identified leads.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of work experience with consultant and investment background and management responsibility.
  • Experience in the field of forestry sectors, agribusiness or land use related investments.
  • Studies in economics, forestry, or agribusiness.
  • Analytical and project management skills.
  • Very good communication skills, client relationship.
  • Ability to work in English and ideally Spanish, paired with very good writing skills.
  • Interest in travelling internationally.
  • Very good knowledge with MS Office (MS Excel), familiarity with economic modeling.
  • Based at Unique headquarters in Freiburg, Germany, with occasional short-term missions into project countries.
