Reducing Emissions from Deforestation and forest Degradation (REDD+) is an international mechanism with the objective of mitigating climate change through reducing net emissions of greenhouse gases through enhanced forest management. In 2012 and 2013, the GIZ supported a series of REDD+ activities in Quang Binh Province in central Viet Nam. GIZ aimed to inform the national REDD+ process, including the National REDD+ Action Plan (NRAP) and the Emissions Reduction Project Document (ER-PD). The latter provides subnational implementation experiences with useful information for decision makers and practitioners at different levels. With its prior experiences in Viet Nam and a strong technical background in REDD+, UNIQUE was commissioned to summarize the lessons learned to valorize the experiences of previous REDD+ engagements.
- Summarize the lessons learned from the GIZ activities in Quang Binh.
- Evaluate how lessons learned can be used to inform national processes.
- Present lessons learned so that they can be used by the GIZ team to further inform national process.
- Assess extent of integration of GIZ activities into Provincial REDD+ Action Plan development.
