Measurement, Reporting and Verification System for Soil Organic Carbon
Hintergrund
The Sustainable Livestock Development Program is supporting the development of environmentally sustainable, inclusive, and competitive beef production in Kazakhstan. It will address environmental performance and climate change mitigation. The vast majority of mitigation potential comes from an increase in Soil Organic Carbon (SOC) for approximately 186.5 million hectares of pastures, through improved grazing management practices. As part of the development and operationalization of a Measurement, Reporting and Verification (MRV) System for the beef sector’s net greenhouse gas emissions, Unique provided recommendations for the design of an MRV system for soil organic carbon stock changes.
Unser Beitrag
- A technical gap-assessment of SOC MRV within the larger livestock MRV currently being prepared
- Design recommendations of a SOC MRV System integrated into the wider livestock MRV system
- Conduct interactive SOC MRV training as part of the program’s capacity building training
