Agriculture Climate Benefit Monitoring
Background
In order to achieve Kenya’s Vision 2030 and growth in the agricultural sector, progress in poverty reduction and food security will have to be measured. Defining strategic goals in the agricultural sector and strengthening monitoring and evaluation (M&E) are policy priorities. As part of the climate-smart agriculture (CSA) readiness process, an agricultural climate benefit M&E system for both adaptation and mitigation is conceptualized according to relevant UNFCCC and M&E requirements proposed in the Kenyan Climate Change Action Plan (KCCAP). The objectives of the study include testing an improved agricultural climate benefit monitoring system in the field, examining how it can be integrated into a Nationally Appropriate Mitigation Action (NAMA) strategy and disseminating findings among interested stakeholders.
