Appraisal Mission
Background
Costa Rica has set a globally unprecedented goal of becoming carbon neutral by the year 2021. This goal is meant to be achieved through the implementation of the National Strategy on Climate Change, nationally appropriate mitigation actions (NAMAs) and other sector-specific strategies. Coffee production is highly vulnerable to climate change, but the production of coffee is estimated to contribute significantly to the livelihood of 50,000 families. The German development cooperation (GIZ) supports the development of a NAMA in Costa Rica that will contribute to a carbon neutral coffee sector. The aim of the appraisal mission was to provide a detailed offer for the NAMA Facility. UNIQUE was selected to support the mission in the project design.
