Economic Analysis of REDD+
Background
The UN-REDD program in Zambia requested the services of UNIQUE to develop a methodology and build capacity of national consultants to assess the economics of REDD+ in Zambia. UNIQUE experts worked directly under the UN-REDD National Project Coordinator (NPC) and the overall technical guidance of the UN-REDD MRV facilitator. UNIQUE provided continuous support to the national consultants, through remote backstopping and in-country missions.

- Development of a methodology to estimate REDD+ opportunity costs.
- Capacity building of the national UN-REDD technical team.
- Review of alternative livelihood options under REDD+ and related forest co-benefits.
- Analysis of development interventions that align REDD+ with Zambia’s socio-economic objectives.
