Evaluation of Ecosystem-based adaptation Measures
Background
Ecosystem based Adaptation (EbA) is high on the agenda of the Government of Vietnam as a way to ensure climate protection, adaptation to climate change and sustainable use of biodiversity. The GIZ supports the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment to identify entry points for mainstreaming EbA solutions into policy making and implementation. The project “Strategic mainstreaming of EbA in Vietnam’’ is financed through the Federal Ministry for Environment, Nature Conservation, Building and Nuclear Safety. Due to its technical expertise and country background, UNIQUE was chosen to carry out a critical assessment on reviewing specific EbA measures in select projects and pilot provinces.
Our contribution
- Review the use of native tree species for the stabilization of coastal sand dunes.
- Contribute to a cost-effectiveness analysis assessing benefits of EbA measures.
- Carry out a cost-benefit analysis on EbA measures applied in the Mekong Delta.
- Assess current status of implementation and upscaling potentials of proposed EbA measures.
