Background

The FAO and the World Bank Group through the Green Climate Fund have been supporting Paraguay in achieving the United Nations Development Goals by investing USD 340 million into climate-resilient development and poverty reduction. Support mechanisms include conditional credit lines for the private sector and donations coupled with the implementation of sustainable production systems. UNIQUE was requested to identify, justify and recommend technical models that can be brought to scale for the project components specifically related to sustainable landscapes and sustainable livelihoods. These components include natural forest management, reforestation and agroforestry systems for small, medium and large producers.

Our contribution

  • Development of a technical feasibility study for a Green Climate Fund investment.
  • Design of natural forest management, reforestation and agroforestry systems.
  • Technical and financial modeling of the forestry packages.
  • Identification of institutional roles and implementation partners associated to project implementation.
