Forest Management Plan for Campos Morombi
Background
The Eastern region of Paraguay has experienced high rates of deforestation for decades. Consequently, the remaining forests are highly fragmented. The Morombí property, located near the Mbaracayú Forest Biosphere Reserve, maintains 21,000 hectares of native forest, classified under the "Alto Paraná Atlantic Forest” ecosystem, a biodiversity hotspot. For 15 years, UNIQUE sustainably managed native forests of this ecosystem according to Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) standards. Considering this, Morombí owners commissioned UNIQUE to develop a forest management plan to ensure the perpetuity of their native forests areas.
