Mapping of Beech Forests Within Natura 2000 Areas in Private Forests
Background
Beech forests are an important habitat for a variety of animal and plant species. For the monitoring and nature conservation planning of these habitats in the German Federal State of Baden-Württemberg, beech forests within Natura 2000 areas are systematically recorded. In public forests, this is made in the context of the forest management plan every ten years. In private forest, a separate survey is conducted. ForstBW, the competent forestry authority in Baden-Württemberg, commissioned UNIQUE with the mapping of 800 hectares of private forest in small scale ownership within the Southern Black forest.
