REDD+ Himalaya
Background
National forest authorities and forest user groups in the Hindu Kush Himalayan Region aim to effectively implement projects to reduce emissions from deforestation and forest degradation (REDD+). There is little coordination at the regional intergovernmental level, especially in the area of measuring, reporting and verification (MRV) and the identification of potential leakage. The objective of the program “REDD+ Himalaya” is to improve the conditions for implementing REDD+ measures to mitigate climate change that are socially and environmentally sound in Nepal, India, Bhutan and Myanmar. UNIQUE was contracted by the GIZ to assist in developing an MRV framework for the region and to conduct a pre-feasibility of REDD+ pilots in Myanmar.
Our contribution
- Program preparation for the first MRV working group meeting.
- MRV workshop facilitation.
- Update of the MRV strategy for the four partner countries.
- Consultancy on pre-feasibility of REDD+ pilots in Taunggyi Township and surrounding districts.
