Agricultural Carbon Finance consulting services
Background
The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) is engaged in advocacy and expert support in the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) climate negotiation and supports national policy making and implementation in agriculture, rural development and food security. UNIQUE supported FAO on advocacy work related to the UNFCCC negotiations and FAO work on climate change mitigation in the agricultural sector. In particular, the tasks consisted of mainstreaming carbon finance into agriculture related policies and supporting the development of respective pilot projects. UNIQUE worked in close consultation with FAO’s Natural Resources Management and Environment Department and the Economic and Social Development Department.

- Preparation of an agriculture mitigation options paper.
- Support for FAO participation in climate change negotiations and international meetings.
- Development of a guidebook on carbon finance for smallholder.
- Support to agriculture mitigation program development and an Agricultural Carbon Finance Platform.
- Supporting the development of a rangeland carbon finance pilot project in Qinghai province.
