SACAU’s Climate Smart Agriculture Work Program
Background
The Southern African Confederation of Agricultural Unions (SACAU) is a regional farmer organization with 16 member institutions in 12 countries. SACAU implements advocacy and capacity building in partnership with GIZ. The organization is currently engaged in the development of a climate change program to extend climate finance and climate resilient agricultural activities to African smallholder farmers. This process will deliver climate finance for implementation activities on the ground with selected farmer organizations and integrate best practices into SACAU’s advocacy and outreach actions. UNIQUE was recommended for this assignment due to our long-term working relationship with a number of farmer associations in Africa. UNIQUE supported SACAU in the formulation of its climate-smart agricultural program.
