Assessing Risks in Agricultural Projects
Background
The Kenya Adaptation to Climate Change in Arid and Semi-Arid Lands (KACCAL) project is addressing poverty and economic challenges caused by the increasingly variable and changing climate in the project area. Arid and Semi-Arid Lands comprise 80 % of Kenya’s landmass and provide livelihoods for approximately 30 % of the population, in particular pastoralists. The project is implemented by the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock & Fisheries with funding from the Global Environmental Facility (GEF) and the Special Climate Change Fund (SCCF). UNIQUE supported the project component on climate risk management at district level.
