The central, dynamic forest database and forest planning software DSW2 of the State Forest Department Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania is updated on an annual basis. Important working steps between calendar years include archiving and updating the growth processes and new forest planning results. These so-called “DSW2 year-end procedures” have to be completed within the shortest possible time, since none of the forestry districts and departments can access the DSW2 system during this period. Through the efficient and close cooperation between the State Forest Department with UNIQUE and Com In GmbH, it was possible to achieve the aim of completing the work in less than five weeks.

• Backup and archiving the database at the end of the calendar year.
• Examination of the recorded management measures of the past year.
• Revision of erroneous database entries.
• Updating the forest area data.
• Updating the data on volume according to the annual growth processes.
• Inclusion of all forest planning projects concluded with the closing date of the new year.
