Background

In 2012, the German federal state of Baden-Württemberg’s forest research institute launched a new program for soil amelioration. This program created new maps based on the forest administration’s GIS baseline data and modeling using a specialized GIS tool. The derived maps include cover 20.000 hectares and provide information about the urgency of liming. UNIQUE was contracted to support this work as well as provide advice for the technical implementation of liming, including proportioning, chemical formulation of the lime and application procedures.
