Mapping of Breeding Birds in the Black Forest
Background
Due to the increasing demands on nationwide bird monitoring, uniform standards for the monitoring of common breeding birds have existed throughout Germany since 2010. So far, the mapping of these species has been conducted on a voluntary basis by NABU Baden-Württemberg. In 2018/19 a mapping exercise was carried out on previously unprocessed sampling plots. The LUBW commissioned UNIQUE to initiate and assist with this mapping exercise. Six ornithologists collected the data, which was then integrated into the NABU Baden-Württemberg database.
