Study on the Sawmilling Industry
Background
The sawmill industry has a long tradition in rural areas of Germany’s federal state of Baden-Wuerttemberg. This industry, which is of high importance for the overall regional economy, faces a variety of challenges in recent years. Various scientific studies confirm the growing lack of raw material for the sawmill industry, especially with softwood. As the industry copes with current overcapacity, other challenges include the need for technological updates and new investments. UNIQUE supports the industry by developing suitable concepts and concrete measures to ensure the long-term competitiveness of the sawmill industry.
