Climate adaptation is a big challenge in Sub-Saharan Africa, especially for Least-Developed Countries (LDC). The main constraints for these counties in coordinating a national adaptation plan (NAP)-processes include the lack of human resources with relevant scientific and technical knowledge and weak institutional capacities. In 2014 the GIZ created a draft of regional project named “Science based support of national adaptation plans – processes in francophone LDC in Sub-Saharan Africa.” The project increased technical capacities and installed an impact-oriented implementation process in Benin. UNIQUE was selected to conduct the internal project appraisal for the GIZ, as well as to elaborate a project proposal for the International Climate Initiative of the Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation, Building and Nuclear Safety.
