The Natura 2000 forest habitats managed by “Landesforsten Mecklenburg-Vorpommern” are mapped based on the description of stands in forest management plans. The mapping projects have been running for several years now, however a consistent database for the management and reporting of data is missing as yet. The project will improve the efficiency of data management by providing a database that is simultaneously a reporting base for a wider public. The dynamic forest database “Datenspeicher Wald Version 2 (DSW2)” was selected as a database format and software tool. As a result, forest stand data and their Natura 2000 habitat attributes can be easily managed and consistently analyzed in a single database.

Analysis of all raw data of the mapping projects given in MS-Excel format.
Definition of a target structure for the import process.
Data adaptation into the target structure to DSW2 software.
Adaptation of the import tool of DSW2 to the target structure of the Natura 2000 datasets.
Test of the import of the Natura 2000 datasets.
Definition of the data handling and import process and documentation of the workflow.
