Landesforst Mecklenburg-Vorpommern

The Natura 2000 forest habitats managed by “Landesforsten Mecklenburg-Vorpommern” are mapped based on the description of stands in forest management plans. The mapping projects have been running for several years now, however a consistent database for the management and reporting of data is missing as yet. The project will improve the efficiency of data management by providing a database that is simultaneously a reporting base for a wider public. The dynamic forest database “Datenspeicher Wald Version 2 (DSW2)” was selected as a database format and software tool. As a result, forest stand data and their Natura 2000 habitat attributes can be easily managed and consistently analyzed in a single database.

  • Analysis of all raw data of the mapping projects given in MS-Excel format.
  • Definition of a target structure for the import process.
  • Data adaptation into the target structure to DSW2 software.
  • Adaptation of the import tool of DSW2 to the target structure of the Natura 2000 datasets.
  • Test of the import of the Natura 2000 datasets.
  • Definition of the data handling and import process and documentation of the workflow.
