The Sino-German Sustainable Forest Management Project Anhui III was implemented from 2011 to 2017. The overall goal of the project was to develop operational sustainable forest management (SFM) approaches for the Anhui Province. Sustainable forest management aims at increasing stand value to generate reliable income sources for rural forest users while simultaneously maintaining the ecological functions of forests. Ten-year SFM operational plans were developed and implemented on 18,000 hectares of different forest types covering 110 village-based forest management units. UNIQUE and GFA Consulting Group provided technical advisory services for the development of these plans. In the final phase of the project, the consortium was commissioned to prepare the final evaluation and assess the project’s achievements as compared to the stated objectives.
