In Ethiopia, rapid population growth combined with continued dependency on agriculture as well as increased urbanization and industrialization have led to poor land management practises and natural resource degradation. The increasing pressure on land in the rural and peri-urban areas has led to conflicts among different interest groups and clashes between communities and the government. The GIZ Participatory and Integrated Land Use Planning (GIZ-PILUP) Project promotes standards and instruments of participatory and integrated land use planning. In this context, GIZ commissioned UNIQUE to develop four participatory and integrated land use plans.
- Develop four participatory and integrated land use plans, applying participatory and digital tools
- Carry out participatory mapping with the target group
- Guide multi-stakeholder platforms at regional level
- Develop a monitoring mechanism and a framework for updating and revising PILUPs
- Validate and finalize the four PILUPs
