The Government of Vietnam is establishing a national compliance carbon market that will utilize eligible emission reductions from forestry projects. In addition to the policy framework, a national carbon standard is being developed. GIZ Vietnam has supported the Government through numerous forest projects, with particular emphasis on mobilizing additional funding. The project objective was to analyze forest carbon projects and markets in the Vietnamese context and to derive recommendations for future technical cooperation support. Unique also set out practical steps for measuring performance against indicators of the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) for GIZ projects. Unique was selected due to its broad technical expertise and in-depth understanding of the sector policy and local implementation contexts.
