Carbon Project Development

Through the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), the Spanish Government partnered with communities in the vicinity of the Maasai Mau Forest to encourage a shift towards more sustainable land management practices which sustain forest cover, water yields and livelihoods. The stakeholder interactions are bundled under the Community Based Integrated Forest Resource Conservation and Management Project (COMIFORM) with the participation of Narok City Council, the Green Belt Movement (GBM), the Kenya Forest Working Group, the Kenya Forest Service and Ewaso Nyiro South Development Authority. UNEP contracted UNIQUE to support stakeholders in developing a carbon forestry project with the implementation support of GBM.
