The GIZ project “Climate Change Adaptation in Rural Areas of India (CCA RAI)” advanced the development and implementation of the National Action Plan on Climate Change in India. Specifically, the project supported the preparation of selected State Action Plans on Climate Change (SAPCC). Vulnerability and risk assessments as well as the climate proofing of national programs were carried out and financial instruments and technical adaptation options in different pilot projects were developed. A project progress review – jointly elaborated with project partners – served to systematically document lessons learned and to identify key success factors for a better steering of the project. A proposal for a new project phase was elaborated to build upon CCA RAI achievements in increasing the resilience of rural communities against adverse climate change.
- Evaluation of climate proofing of the national joint forest management program.
- Proposal of additional government scheme for climate proofing.
- Evaluation of selected demonstration projects.
- Assessment of the possibility of private sector involvement.
- Coordination and writing of the joint mission report.
