The Livelihoods Fund has selected the project “Cerro San Gil” of the non-governmental organization FUNDAECO for its climate finance investment. The project will be designed to preserve a biodiversity reserve of international importance in partnership with rural communities. The communities engage in soil restoration and local water resources management. The Livelihoods Fund has a long-term vision based on agricultural entrepreneurship, technology and know-how transfer. In partnership with the communities, the Fund seeks to strike a balance between food crops and crops for sale. The producer organizations in Cerro San Gil are also supported in accessing local and export markets. UNIQUE was contracted to assess the eligibility of this project and verify the climate benefits of agricultural practices promoted by FUNDAECO.

  • Project carbon eligibility assessment including area mapping.
  • Sample design for forest/non-forest stratification check.
  • Stratified random sampling of vegetation cover in Cerro San Gil.
  • Verification of agronomic practices leading to measurable climate benefits.
