The rural areas of Guatemala are marked by poverty. Two-thirds of the small, predominantly indigenous companies have less than one hectare of land and are barely self-sufficient. The soil is therefore overexploited and natural resources are being degraded. The situation is aggravated by the increasing impact of climate change. Various national programs exist, but they are not being implemented effectively in practice. The GIZ project ADAPTATE supports ministries, regional administrations, the private sector and civil society in the implementation of measures for environmental management and adaptation to climate change in selected regions of Guatemala (El Progreso and Baja Verapaz). UNIQUE was commissioned to evaluate the project and plan the follow-up.

  • Definition of the evaluation design and data collection methods.
  • Standardized assessment dimensions according to the OECD Development Assistance Committee criteria.
  • Moderation of self-assessment according to the success factors of Capacity Works.
  • Moderation of the final workshop.
  • Elaboration of the evaluation report and proposal for follow-up.
