Continuous deforestation as well as forest and land degradation severely affect the North and Far North regions of Cameroon. The Forest Landscape Restoration (FLR) approach has the potential to foster both socio-economic development and ecological integrity and thus provides a promising framework to reverse this trend. KfW is supporting the Government of Cameroon to reach its ambitious restoration pledges for the African Forest Landscape Restoration Initiative (AFR100) and the Bonn Challenge. UNIQUE joined forces with local consulting firm JMN Consultants to draft a feasibility study and to provide carefully selected FLR project proposals. These proposals build on local and regional lessons learned and are fit for upscaling.

  • Drafting of a comprehensive feasibility study for FLR in Northern Cameroon.
  • Definition of FLR specific project eligibility criteria.
  • Evaluation of FLR projects and best practices in the region.
  • Presentation of a set of carefully selected FLR project proposals.
  • Analysis of the contributions made by the AFR100 Secretariat & the Technical Working Group.
