KfW Climate Screening Tool for the Land Use Sector

Climate finance is an important impact target for the German Government and the German Development Bank KfW. Therefore, KfW investments are facing increasing scrutiny towards their categorization, climate proofing, and the monitoring, reporting and evaluation of their climate outcomes. UNIQUE and KfW are leading the way in developing a thorough IT-based investment impact monitoring system that covers climate risk and greenhouse gas (GHG) mitigation aspects. The land use sector, including agriculture, forestry and protected areas, lends itself for beta version testing, as adaptation-mitigation co-benefits are frequent here. With the new tool, KfW project managers will be able to assess, monitor and report climate benefits across project types according to current international standards.
