The World Bank

The World Bank funded Sustainable Land Management Program (SLMP), implemented by the Ministry of Agricultural and Natural Resources of Ethiopia between 2008 and 2018, will be up-scaled in the framework of the Resilient Landscapes and Livelihoods Project (RLLP). One target of the RLLP is the establishment of Green Corridors connecting the SLMP watersheds and areas of high ecosystem value. The Green Corridors will conserve biodiversity and contribute to the improvement of local livelihoods by providing ecosystems services and products. UNIQUE supported the project by identifying and planning the Green Corridors, and developed guidelines for future Green Corridor planning. The entire SLMP/RLLP intervention area covers six regional states and four agro-ecological zones.

  • Development of principles for Green Corridor selection.
  • Development of guidelines for Green Corridor design.
  • Identification of potential Green Corridors and selection of priority corridors.
  • Planning for Green Corridor establishment (technical and financial).
