Carbon Management Support for Yagasu II

Mangrove ecosystems are crucial for climate change mitigation and adaptation. The Livelihoods Yagasu II project seeks to restore mangroves and protect the coastal greenbelt at the east coast of the Aceh and North Sumatra provinces, Indonesia. This does not only increase the environmental carrying capacity of mangrove ecosystems for carbon sequestration but also reduces the risk of natural disasters and generates additional income at the local level. UNIQUE was selected to design and develop a Management Information System (MIS) together with an integrated web and mobile based software for data collection, management and reporting. In doing so, UNIQUE can draw on its experiences in past projects involving MIS in highly diverse land use systems, as well as our longstanding collaboration with Livelihoods Venture.
