Carbon Project Development Smallholder Rubber

Monoculture rubber systems in Indonesia are threatened by unsustainable use and the conversion to palm oil plantations, causing further deforestation in the country. Ksapa, an environmental consultancy company, wanted to develop a carbon project with 1000-5000 smallholders focusing on the sustainable production of rubber and enhancing farmer incomes. The carbon project aimed to enhance the carbon stocks, as well as the production system with agroforestry techniques using soil enhancement solutions and intercropping with other tree cash crops, such as coffee and cocoa. UNIQUE developed the carbon project for Ksapa including the project design and validation, as well as monitoring and verification support.
