Land and forest resources in Ethiopia face intense degradation due to natural and anthropogenic factors, with particularly severe impacts in the Amhara region. The Norwegian Forestry Group (NFG) is a network company that provides forestry consultancy services and implements the Forest Landscape Restoration (FLR) Project, which is funded Norway’s International Climate and Forest Initiative. The project aimed to achieve restoration and more sustainable use of targeted forest landscapes in the Amhara region through local participation, creating socioeconomic benefits, and building stakeholder capacity. The End-Review was commissioned to assess project performance, document lessons learned and provide recommendations for ensuring local ownership and sustainability. Unique was selected due to in depth expertise in evaluation, FLR and country knowledge.
