The Gold Standard Foundation (GSF) is in the process of developing a Gold Standard agriculture methodology based on the Cool Farm Tool (CFT) to account for greenhouse gas emissions reductions in agriculture. The Gold Standard intends to apply the CFT as a backbone for a “Gold Standard Agriculture Methodology” – a comprehensive and scientifically robust carbon accounting methodology. UNIQUE supported the GSF and its agriculture pilot project partners to analyze the Cool Farm Tool and identify missing methodological elements that are required for a robust greenhouse gas accounting methodology. Subsequently, in a second phase, UNIQUE developed the identified methodological elements, and prepared a full agriculture methodology document to be in full compliance with Gold Standard requirements.
- Analyze the CFT to identify missing methodological elements.
- Development of methodological elements: applicability conditions, crediting period, baseline & project scenario.
- Support input data collection & analysis and uncertainty management.
- Support net emissions/removals calculation.
- Integration of different methodological elements into one comprehensive methodology document.
