The International Forest Program of the GIZ advises the German Ministry for Development and Economic Cooperation on issues related to forest policies, such as the protection and restoration of forest landscapes (FLR), and supports selected partner countries in their implementation efforts (Ethiopia, Madagascar, Cameroon and Togo). The objective of this framework contract of UNIQUE and its cooperation partner ONF International was to support the sector program, as well as a planned global program. This included analytical studies, expert exchanges, and capacity building measures in the context of the African Forest Landscape Restoration Initiative AFR100, innovative finance instruments, and Forest Law Enforcement, Governance and Trade (FLEGT) actions.
- Analytical studies on the implementation of FLR in Ethiopia, Madagascar, Cameroon and Togo.
- Facilitation of expert dialogues and capacity building measures.
- Development of private sector cooperation models and development of innovative financing approaches.
- Development of a public private partnership (PPP) for forest-relevant value chains.
- Support to the sector program in terms of knowledge and information management.
