KfW is financing a program in Peru which promotes sustainable forest production. The focus of the investment is on commercial forest plantations, sustainable natural forest management, and national forest governance. In consortium with GITEC Consult GmbH, UNIQUE prepared a preliminary investment study on behalf of the Peruvian Ministry of Economic Affairs and the National Forest Administration. The study was carried out according to the requirements of the public Peruvian investment system and included a detailed analysis of Peru’s forest sector. The KfW program was further developed in consultation with the forest administration, agricultural and economic ministries by providing a cost estimate and recommendations for further steps of the public forest investment.
